01 — Overview
Hampton by Hilton Torquay anchors Harbourside, a £30m mixed-use development moments from Torquay Harbour.
132 keys anchoring a £30m, 100,000 sq ft harbourside scheme.
02 — The scheme
The scheme combines a 132-bedroom hotel with Grade A workspace and retail and leisure uses, bringing new hospitality and commercial activity to a complex town-centre site.
03 — A difficult site
Development was far from straightforward. A 7.5-metre level change across the site created significant structural, piling and temporary works challenges, all of which had to be resolved while protecting neighbouring properties and the public highway.
04 — Development and operation together
Alongside the physical development, THAT brought the hotel proposition, Hilton brand requirements and future operation into the process from the outset.
The result is the kind of project THAT DM is built for: development expertise combined with an understanding of the business that ultimately has to operate inside the building.
